Since the 1990s, Japan's life insurance industry has experienced numerous challenges, including major earthquakes, compliance violations in sales practices, and negative interest spreads caused by declining interest rates. In the upcoming seminar program in November, life insurance companies will reflect on these experiences. FALIA held a similar seminar in November 2024, aimed at top management. This time, however, the primary audience will be middle management from life insurance companies and supervisory authorities. We expect that this will enable us to exchange views from a more practical point of view than in the previous meeting. The challenges that Japanese life insurance companies have faced over the past 30 years will undoubtedly serve as invaluable lessons for many of those who will play a central role in supervising and managing the life insurance industry in Asia in the future.
